Production Manager

Fox Valley Repertory is seeking an experienced Production Manager. Each season includes five Mainstage productions (CAT Tier III), Three Youth Ensemble productions, and several touring productions for single night engagements. Responsibilities include: Overseeing Mainstage productions; Supervising the Assistant Production Manager who facilitates all Arts Academy, Youth Ensemble and Touring programming; Hiring and supervising all technical staff; Planning and facilitating all productions with Artistic Director and production staffs; Managing the budgets of the Production Department; Maintaining the theater’s lighting, sound, and other theatrical equipment and keeping an accurate inventory of the available packages; Supervising the organization of onsite and offsite storage.

Pheasant Run Resort Box Office Agent

Pheasant Run Resort is searching for Box Office Agents to start immediately.

Pheasant Run Resort, the largest entertainment resort in the Midwest, is currently looking for Box Office Agents.  This role is responsible for ticket sales and customer service.  Experience with Ticketmaster and high proficiency with Excel and web applications strongly preferred.  This box office sells tickets for Pheasant Run Events, Zanies Comedy Club and Fox Valley Repertory Theatre and is a Ticketmaster outlet.  Candidate must be outgoing, detail oriented, problem solvers who can work calmly under pressure.  This is an hourly position.

Prop Master – Mainstage
Fox Valley Repertory, the premiere professional theatre in the Fox Valley area, is seeking an experienced Properties Master for the Chicago Area Premier of SIRENS, the hit of the 2010 Humana Festival of New Plays, written by Deborah Zoe Laufer. Directed by John Gawlik, FVR Artistic Director.

The Props Master will be responsible for pulling, creating, and renting properties and set dressing for production. The ideal candidate will have prop construction and painting skills. Prop Master should be organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and responsible. The Prop Master will be responsible for working with the Production Department to coordinate strike and return of all rented/borrowed items.

General Dates: First Rehearsal – July 31st, 2012; Tech – August 12th & 14th, 2012; First Preview – August 16th, 2012; Opening – August 25th, 2012 and Closing – October 7th, 2012.

Costume Designer/Coordinator – Youth Ensemble
Fox Valley Repertory, the premiere professional theatre in the Fox Valley area, is seeking an experienced costume designer for our upcoming Youth Ensemble production of Cinderella. We pride ourselves on providing a professional experience for our students, giving them the opportunity to work directly with industry professionals. Our Youth Ensemble productions are audition only and typically cast between 30 to 40 students.

Design will be completed primarily by pulling, borrowing, and renting. Designer may need to build some items. Designer will be responsible for alterations as well as facilitating return of rented and/or borrowed items.

CINDERELLA – General Dates: October 24 – 1st rehearsal; December 2 – techs begin; December 8 – opening; December 15 – closing

Teaching Artists are paid per class as an independent contractor, and compensation is competitive within the industry.   Apprenticeships:
The Fox Valley Repertory Professional Apprenticeship Program combines one’s arts education with an intensive work experience.  Work alongside fellow working professionals while focusing on your specific area of interest!  This program is designed for those pursuing a career in the performing arts.  An applicant must be willing to commit to a 2-month time span or to a specific project.  Specific, concentrated areas of interest include: Costumes, Lighting, Props, Sound, Production Management, Stage Management, Marketing, and Development. (As an apprentice, you will touch on a myriad of areas across the spectrum.)

Fox Valley Repertory is currently seeking Marketing Interns
Fox Valley Repertory is seeking a Marketing/Public Relations intern to assist in raising community awareness and generating ticket sales in Fox Valley Repertory’ Mainstage series, Studio performances, and FVR School of the Performing Arts. The marketing intern works closely with the marketing manager to develop an increased subscription audience base, create promotions, coordinate efforts with the resort, and enhance community outreach. The intern also assists with opening night events, group sales, direct mail, press releases, postering, community festivals, editing playbills, and various administrative duties. Prospective interns must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and should be knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience in journalism, marketing, or graphic design is preferred. Daytime hours are flexible with a minimum of 8 hours per week. While there is no compensation, interns receive complimentary tickets to productions. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Fox Valley Repertory Performing Arts Academy is an educational theater company. An extremely important part of our mission is using the dramatic arts to educate and enrich young people’s lives. Internships are available for high school students (16+) and college students that are pursuing careers in the performing arts. Internships are offered in all disciplines including directing, choreography, wardrobe, hair and makeup, technical lighting and sound, production management, stage management, marketing and more.

Interns will work with our professional teaching artists in all of their assignments. Closely working with a wide range of professionals at FVR Performing Arts Academy gives the interns first hand knowledge of both the fulfillment gained and sacrifices necessary when choosing a career in the arts. This experience is geared to both empower the interns as artists and to help them along on a journey to decide their career path.

Interns develop leadership skills and gain direct, hands-on experience. This career-shaping experience will identify strengths and help plan for the future.

FVR Performing Arts Academy is currently seeking INTERNS STAGE MANAGEMENT
This intern assists the Stage Manager in all aspects of the production process to gain knowledge about stage management in a theatre setting. This intern will gain an understanding of the relation of technical elements to the production process; tracking textual changes; noting blocking; tracking props and aiding the Stage Manager with the creation of scene breakdowns, plots, and schedules. This intern will also be running the show back stage, assisting with scene shifts, tracking props and costumes and making mic changes. This internship requires a commitment for the length of the rehearsals and performances. Candidates with some knowledge of theatre production preferred. PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
Working closely with the Production Manager, this intern gains knowledge of and experience in production administration. Small projects, specific to each production, may be assigned to the Intern. Responsibilities include general office duties, research for props and scenery, providing rehearsal support, and a little bit of everything production-related. Production Management interns will often be called upon to assist in all areas of production, including stage management, props, video, projections, and scenery. This internship requires a commitment for the length of the rehearsals and performances. Candidates with some knowledge of theatre production preferred.

DIRECTING
Directing interns serve as the assistant director for a Youth Ensemble production, participating in the creative process with some of the theater community's most respected directors. These interns assist at auditions, rehearsals and performances. In addition, directing interns oversee understudy rehearsals throughout the rehearsal process to prepare understudies to step into a role if necessary. This internship requires a commitment for the length of the rehearsals. Candidates must have some acting experience.

MUSICAL DIRECTION
This internship provides the opportunity to work with a professional music director on a Youth Ensemble show. Interns assist at auditions and rehearsals, playing piano, running sound and performing various other related duties. This internship requires a commitment for the length of the rehearsal period. Must be able to read sheet music and play the piano proficiently. Experience accompanying is not necessary, but good site reading skills are a plus.
CHOREOGRAPHY
This is an opportunity for students to gain meaningful work experience by applying the knowledge and skills learned in dance to assist in developing and teaching choreography to the Youth Ensemble. This internship requires a commitment for the length of the rehearsals. Candidates with a strong dance background and some knowledge of theatre production preferred.
TEACHING
This internship is for individuals with theatre experience and/or professional training, and a desire to pursue education, theatre or directing. This internship takes place year round, when teaching interns are teamed up with the instructors. Interns will assist instructors with daily warm-ups, technique and rehearsals for the showcase.  Interns may be asked to assist with direction, choreography, music coaching, stage management and administrative duties.

MARKETING/PUBLIC RELATIONS
Interns with an interest in theatre and communications have the opportunity to work with the Marketing Manager and assist in all aspects of Public Relations and Marketing. Duties include communicating to the media, audiences, and the general public. Commitment time varies. Candidates with some knowledge of theatre preferred.
 
WARDROBE/HAIR/MAKEUP
Learn the methods and skills necessary to produce costumes from project-specific time periods, and handle some piece projects from inception to completion. This intern will attend and assist in costume fittings and may oversee wardrobe for assigned characters. This is a great opportunity to be trained by a local professional in the styling and upkeep of wigs as well as the art of stage makeup. Candidates with sewing and some knowledge of theatre production preferred.
